Weekly visits to the animal control are a must as the volunteer coordinator, rain or shine! With this unusually cool June weather I look forward to photographing new dogs on cloudy days. As mother nature would have it a thunder storm rolls in, thankfully we were almost done because photographing dogs in a thunder storm is like brushing your teeth and eating cookies, it just is not going to work.

We head inside for some office work catch up. With inspection coming it is important that all I's are dotted a T's crossed. I help out by mopping the office and then redrawing the board we use to track info on dogs. Once everything is checked off we decide it is a good time to bathe a particularly dirty senior dog before we snap some photos to help her find rescue. Once we get her warm bath going I decide lets clip her nails too. We were happy that Leggs (that's the senior girl in need of a bath) was cooperative and the thunder held off! When it came to her nails she was less cooperative but we still got it done.

Today was a fairly easy day but unfortunately our shelter is full with daily requests for more dogs to be picked up. The overwhelming number of pets is what has driven me since I was a teen to help our shelter. I hope through blogs, photos, videos, and volunteering those in our community will become aware of the great need our area has for responsible pet owners! Please remember to spay and neuter and keep your pets safe!
