OUR ORGANIZATION'S STORY
Founded in 2012, LCAC Volunteers Founder began photographing animals at Lauderdale County Animal Shelter in hope that more exposure would save lives. Throughout the years a few people joined in and started trying to help but it was an uphill battle with local politics and very little support from the community. In 2020 the shelter had no animal control officer and was in a really bad spot. A small group of people began meeting with local Government to try and push for change. Over the last 3 years Founder, Sara, has helped to try to push for change. Now the animals at LCAC are altered, vaccinated, and heart-worm tested before adoption. To say no animal leaves LCAC unaltered is an absolute massive improvement. Now in 2023 LCAC Volunteers has been created to continue support for our animal control and hopefully work to save more lives!
